Since this is a major commitment for me, I think I needed to publish the information. I will be giving a lecture at the IDUG North America 2006 conference in Tampa, from May 7th to 11th. My speech will cover an introduction to Java Development with IDS.

I am one of the very first sessions, just after the keynote speech, so meet me on May 8th at 10:20 AM.

In this session, we will discover how we can make Java talk to IDS. We will first discuss the architecture, how does Java contact databases, how it handles errors, etc. Finally, we will build a simple application that will query information from IDS and list it. We will use simple queries on the stores database and simple Java to access those information. We will draw parallels to other languages such as I-4GL.
